The Cassie Plummer actress shared her adoration for one of her colleagues on the Cobbles as she revealed their past
Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has shared her adoration for one of her colleagues on the Cobbles as she revealed their past stretches way back to her days on Brookside.
While the actress is currently known for playing Cassie Plummer in the ITV soap, Claire actually landed her first major role as Lindsey Corkhill in the former Channel 4 soap back in the nineties.
She initially appeared as a recurring character from 1991 and then as a leading character from 1995 until the programme came to an end in 2003.
From then on her career went from strength to strength with a few more TV appearances under her belt, both as an actress and as a presenter, while also carving out a successful theatre career starring in the likes of Guys and Dolls, Legally Blonde, Educating Rita and numerous pantomimes.
Claire has since found herself in Weatherfield, a role which she has previously hailed as a dream come true. But it’s not until now, almost two years since she joined the show, that she has recalled her former working relationship with Corrie favourite Alison King.
After a fan shared a video of them in scenes together in the Liverpool-based drama, Claire shared it to her own Instagram account and said: “Love this @officialalisonking at the beginning of our careers on Brookside, and now working together @coronationstreet 30 years later. You are a fabulous woman, loyal, kind and talented. I adore you. Thank you for this clip @pratkins.”
And fans were quick to respond. @dyoung196644 said: “Love this Claire.” @ellegriffiths_xx commented: “I absolutely loved Brookside. It was groundbreaking in so many ways…”
@gazfoxbase wrote: “Aw I miss Brookie.” @parksy_1878 joked: “Carla Barlow has got no chance with Cassie around. Love this Claire.” @saoirseweir added: “Ali King, powerhouse.”
It comes after Claire was also flooded with comments recently when she took to social media to remind fans of one of her presenting gigs on 60 Second Makeover. Sharing a clip to Instagram, she commented: “Now this is a blast from the past… my 60 min makeover days…” And her followers were quick to respond to the update.
