City Union Bank Ltd, an old private sector bank, has partnered with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to launch a co-branded credit card.

The CUB-CSK Co-Branded Credit Card will be available in three variants – MasterCard, Platinum, and Signature Powered by MasterCard and RuPay, the card promises global acceptance, top-notch security, and contactless payment options.

“These cards go beyond just ticket purchases. While the initial focus will be on sports-related perks for the first two to three months, we will introduce additional rewards to encourage everyday spending,” said R Vijay Anandh, Executive Director of City Union Bank.

The co-branded card’s initial focus will be existing customers across savings accounts, current accounts, term deposits, and loan portfolios. However, it will also be extended to new customers through a fully digital onboarding process.

“Our goal is to strengthen relationships with new customers while offering enhanced benefits to existing ones,” Anandh added.

The co-banded card’s innovative keychain feature allows customers to make small transactions without carrying a physical card. “We were the first to introduce this feature, and we continue to build on that tradition. RuPay supports this facility, helping us expand our reach to a broader segment,” said Anandh.

City Union Bank previously offered a traditional credit card, but it has now revamped the offering to make it more appealing. The rollout will be completed within 10-12 days, with digital applications opening in 3-4 days and full issuance expected within two weeks.

With the Indian Premier League (IPL) season approaching, the bank aims to launch the card before the tournament begins. Upon approval, customers will receive the digital version instantly in their mobile wallets, followed by the physical card.
