With the clocks going forward overnight on Saturday, spring is certainly in the air. The weather in the UK over the coming days is starting to reflect that.

According to the latest forecast by the Met Office, Saturday afternoon will be reasonably mild across the UK with highs of 15C in London, 12C in Manchester and Cardiff.

It will be chillier up north, with highs of 8C predicted in Glasgow. Scotland will also experience showers throughout the day, which could move across the north of England as the day progresses.

The south is expected to remain dry. It will be a cloudy day for most of the UK.

Forecasting for Saturday the Met Office said: “A dry but chilly start for many with the southeast holding onto the best of the sunshine.

“Turning cloudier and windier from the west with outbreaks of rain and drizzle sinking southeastwards, heavy at times for the northwest of Scotland.”

The Met Office added: “Cloud and patchy rain in the northwest continues to sink southeastwards through the night. Turning drier behind with clear spells and blustery showers. Windy with the risk of coastal gales.”

On Sunday conditions are expected to improve with a dry day expected for most. Temperatures will be similar to Saturday.

Forecasters said: “Any patchy rain and drizzle in the south soon clearing through the morning, with showers in the north also easing. Thereafter plenty of fine and dry weather albeit rather breezy.”

Next week temperatures are expected to warm up, with highs of 19C forecast for Manchester.

The Met Office says it will be “dry, bright and warm for most”.

A dominant period of high pressure will “leave plenty of warm sunshine,” excellent news for those wanting to enjoy the lighter evenings.
