Nadda urges Odisha BJP lawmakers to stay humble, disciplined, and grounded
Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda on Saturday delivered a clear and firm message to the party’s elected representatives, urging them to embrace humility, discipline, and a deeper connection with grassroots communities. The address came during the inaugural session of a two-day BJP training workshop in Puri, attended by senior leaders, ministers, MPs, and MLAs from across the country.
Nadda outlined a 14-point charter of responsibilities and behavioural guidelines for lawmakers and party office-bearers, cautioning against arrogance, factionalism, and sycophancy.
“Don’t let positions like MLA, MP, or minister make you arrogant. Shun groupism and flattery. Instead, build your own credibility and identity,” Nadda said, addressing a packed hall that included Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo and Pravati Parida, as well as Union and state ministers.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi said Nadda’s speech was sharply focused on grassroots engagement. “He urged us to visit villages, connect with people, and treat everyone as part of a family. The emphasis was on action, not rhetoric,” she said.
The BJP chief also directed legislators to spend time in Anganwadi centres and local health facilities to understand real-time issues faced by citizens. “Sit there for at least 30 minutes. See what people are going through. Understand how government schemes are being implemented on the ground,” he urged.
Dhenkanal MP Rudra Narayan Pani echoed the sentiment, noting that Nadda emphasised inclusivity and silent diligence. “He told us that true leadership lies in working quietly and effectively—not in chasing the spotlight,” Pani said.
A key highlight of Nadda’s address was the call for sustained engagement with Dalit communities and better coordination with government officials. “You must know how to get work done through the system. Harmonious coordination between the party and the government is crucial,” he added.
Over the hour-long session, Nadda presented a roadmap to improve synergy between the party’s organizational strength and administrative machinery. He called upon representatives to move beyond symbolic gestures and focus on consistent, meaningful fieldwork.
“Know every central and state government scheme. Visit your constituency regularly and assess the implementation firsthand,” he emphasized.
The workshop was part of the BJP’s ongoing initiative to bolster ideological clarity, improve administrative coordination, and prepare for upcoming electoral challenges. BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda, along with several key Odisha leaders, was also present during the session.
